Going back in time with ceramics

Opening on Friday is the solo ceramics exhibition by Frosso Kapa at Art Studio 55 in Limassol at 8pm.

In this exhibition, which will remain on display until Sunday, Kapa will show her latest ceramic works, which may remind the viewer of ancient Greek pieces. She has been creating with ceramics for the past ten years, learning from ceramics artist Valentinos Haralambous. Today she has her own workshop at home.

Speaking about Kapa’s work, the architect Giannos Anastasiou said “ceramics seem to be the artistic medium that is most fitting for Frosso Kapa. In this collection she is very much inspired by ancient Cypriot vessels which use traditional motifs.

“Every piece is special and unique. They experiment with anthropomorphic vessels based in antiquity and more recent history of pottery in Cyprus. In experimenting with glazes of metal oxides and recipes using ashes, making her work have an immediate link with the natural elements and colours.”

Kapa had her first solo exhibition in 1996. She has also taken part in a number of group exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad.
