When dreams take flight

For some artists releasing an album or publishing a book seems like a dream but for others, like musician Savvas Charalambous, the dream can actually come true.

Presenting this dream in Paphos on Sunday, Charalambous – together with singer Ines Kowalska and guitarist Hannah Leyden – will give the audience a taste of his first solo album entitled When the Dreams Take Place.

Twenty years in the making, When the Dreams Take Place pieces together some of Charalambous’ most lyrical and atmospheric creations.

One of these pieces is ‘I Saw an Angel’, which represents the album’s aesthetics and sound, while the title track is meant to sound exactly as the title suggests, like a dream. There are more moving tracks on the album but, according to the gang behind Technopolis 20, where the performance will be hosted, the gem of the album is ‘Hear me Lord’, the melody and lyrics of which almost put you into a trance.

Charalambous started studying music and the guitar at the age of 13. Eight years later he joined his first band called Nemesis. The band released its first demo album in 1997 and in 1998 Charalambous formed the band En Lithi Erastai, which played all around the island.

The next band that Charalambous got involved in was Low on Saturn that had a more aggressive sound. The musician’s latest band, Under the Number, was formed in 2009 and is a hard rock band.

Charalambous has lots of experience with different sounds, so expect the songs from his first solo album to bring these melodies to the surface and take you to a land of dreams.
