Passenger had 4.5kg of cocaine hidden in chocolate boxes

Police on Sunday said they had arrested a 23-year-old at Larnaca airport with over 4.5 kilos of what was believed to be cocaine hidden inside eight cylindrical plastic chocolate boxes.

They did not identify the nationality of the suspect or where he had arrived from only that he had come from abroad. The arrest was carried out with the cooperation of customs, police said.

When the man’s luggage was searched, officers found eight containers with 242 separate packs of cocaine weighing 4.528kg in total, police alleged.

The 23-year-old was arrested and was being questioned by the Larnaca drugs unit.
