€500 bonus for job finders

A Cabinet approved plan set to be rolled out in April aims to help 1,000 unemployed persons find work, the Labour ministry said on Wednesday.

Private employment agencies will be receiving up to €500 for any Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI) recipient, young person or long term unemployed person they get employed.

The agencies will be invited to submit expressions of interest to participate in the programme in April and will be collaborating with the public employment service to first help GMI recipients find work.

The programme, co-funded by European social funds and the state, has a €500,000 budget for 1,000 persons over the course of up to three years or until the funds run out.
