Nursing students will support PASYNO if union votes for strike

Students from the nursing faculty at the University of Technology (TEPAK) in Limassol said on Sunday they would fully support an indefinite strike by nurses union PASYNO.

PASYNO members are due to go to secret ballot on Monday to decide whether to strike from March 15 over their demands, which include higher-entry level wages and having their qualification made equal to a university degree.

The TEPAK students also called on nursing trainees in other universities around the island to join them in their support of PASYNO.

A meeting in Friday between PASYNO and public service union PASYDY members to try and find a joint way forward.

It recommended joining forces so both unions could demand better terms of employment for nurses at public hospitals.
