IMF team visits Tymbou airport

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) team has visited the Tymbou (Ercan) airport in the north, Turkish newspaper Milliyet reported on Monday.

The delegation assigned to assess the financial situation on both sides of the island in light of the ongoing negotiations to resolve the Cyprus problem,
visited the airport and was briefed as to how it could offer international services after the possibility of a solution, the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) said.

According to the report, the team studied a new airport project undertaken by TT company.

Quoted by the paper, TT general manager Serhat Ozcelik said a new airport was planned. The new terminal building will be 120,000 square metres compared to Tymbou’s existing 20,000.
