Woman critical in Larnaca accident

A 76-year-old woman is in critical condition on Friday after she was injured in a car accident shortly after noon.

According to police, shortly after 1.30pm, the accident occurred in the same place where 18-year-old Andreas Pavlos and 88-year-old Nikos Flourentzou were killed this month, on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue.

The woman’s husband, a 77-year-old Briton who is a permanent resident of Oroklini was trying to turn right when the car he was driving was hit by another car coming from the opposite direction, driven by a 30-year-old from Pyla.

His wife was injured and trapped in the vehicle from which she had to be freed by  the fire brigade. The drivers of both cars were also injured.

All three were taken to Larnaca general hospital where the two drivers were tested and found not to be driving under the influence.
