Choca-block with delight

You won’t need a Willy Wonka style golden ticket to see a great musical performance on Thursday, but a love of chocolate and all things sweet is advised as the Limassol Theatre Arts School (LTAS) will be bringing us the West End musical theatre production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The West End musical, written by David Graig and with lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, had its premier in London on June 25, 2013 and has been giving putting audiences into a chocolate trance ever since.

Those of us who have seen the 1971 film version of the Roald Dahl children’s classic will be able to sing along to Pure Imagination as we enter the wonderful world of the confectioner Willie Wonka.

Although the feel of the musical and the wardrobe may take us back to the 70s, Pure Imagination is pretty much the only recognisable song. The two act musical moves in a different direction with its Double Bubble Duchess and the Oompa-Loompas singing about Veruca’s Nutcracker Sweet.

Get ready to take a trip with Charlie and Granpa Joe as they are immersed in a world of delicious chocolate fudge-mallow delights, juicy rainbow drops and tasty everlasting gobstoppers.

Be the first to enter the chocolate factory on Thursday. But it you have other adventures to explore, the factory doors will also be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and on the first Sunday in March.

Tickets can be bought online at http://limassolarts.com/upcoming-events.php.
