Aretaeio hospital in deal with Israeli heart surgeons

Aretaeio Hospital on Thursday announced that its Cardiac Surgery Department would be collaborating with the Israeli group of heart surgeons ‘Cardioheal’.

As part of the agreement, the private hospital said Israeli doctors would visit Cyprus to perform surgery on non-Cypriots at the Aretaeio as part of a wider goal to develop medical tourism.

The agreement provides for the transfer of patients from Russia, Ukraine, and Arab countries to undergo cardiac surgery by the ‘Cardioheal’ team in Cyprus. Patients from these countries currently travel to Israel for treatment.

“Cooperation with the group of Israeli heart surgeons is an expression of confidence in the services of our hospital and the high level of Aretaieio’s Cardiac Surgery Department, at all stages of medical treatment and care,” the announcement said.

The agreement signed, it added, “enhances the ability of Cyprus to become a major regional medical centre, with multiple benefits for the country”.
