Shop hours leaving tourists hungry

I read with interest your comments regarding re-designing the islands tourism.

Does it deal with the following issues?

I come to Cyprus four times a year with my wife, children and friends, all who have children. We arrive late on Saturdays and go to our pre-booked apartments. We then get up on Sundays to go shopping, sir, do you realise that now  we cannot find a supermarket or food shop open in the Limassol area on Sundays, even in the tourist quarter. The kiosks do not sell the food that we want for ourselves or our children.

Also it has been pointed out to us that we cannot go shopping for food on Wednesday afternoons even in the tourist quarter, which is a breach of our human rights. We should be allowed to buy food when and where we want to. We are not interested in the country’s politics, only to have a good time holidaying in Cyprus with our families and children.

I think once other holiday makers know that our shopping for food is being restricted they will not come back to Cyprus anymore.

I shall be writing to the EU headquarters in Brussels to lodge a formal complaint that our human rights are being breached by the government’s policies regarding antiquated shop opening laws.

I would like you to put into print this observation and invite comments from your readers, who I am sure will all agree with me. I would also like to thank Ian Clark for the use of his computer to write this letter.
