Larnaca buses to go on strike

Larnaca bus company Zenon employees are set to go on a 24 hour strike on February 1 unions announced on Tuesday over disagreements with stakeholders on salaries.

On September 2014, employees agreed to cuts to their salaries in a bid to do their part to help out with the company’s financial difficulties.

This agreement however ended on December 31, 2015 and their salary – they claim – was set to return to its normal amount this year.

“Employees with their unions call on the company even at this late stage to respect the collective agreement and its signature and implement what was agreed.”

Set to start at 5am on Monday, employees apologised to members of the public “who bear no responsibility”, adding that at midday they would all convene to evaluate developments and take decisions on how to further proceed.
