Thieves steal supermarket ATM in Nicosia, net 40,000 euros

Thieves with a stolen van removed an ATM from the front of a supermarket in the Acropolis area of Nicosia on Sunday, CyBC reported.

The theft, captured on CCTV, was discovered by a security guard and reported to police on Sunday morning. According to CyBC the thieves, who could not be identified from the footage as they wore hoodies, managed to net 40,000 euros from the cash machine.

Police later found the van abandoned near a school with the empty ATM inside. The vehicle has been stolen two days earlier in Nicosia while the owner was out of town for the weekend.
