AEK move clear at the top after win over APOEL (highlights)

AEK Larnaca moved three points clear at the top of the Cyprus football championship on Monday evening with a dramatic 2-1 win at champions APOEL at the GSP stadium in Nicosia.

Joan Amorin gave the home side a dream start when he scored after only three minutes, but the in-form leaders hit back after 31 minutes through David Catala.

The score remained 1-1 until the 72nd minute when Andre Alves hit the winner for AEK.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Omonia won 1-0 away at Doxa to remain in fifth place on 29 points, while Aris beat Paphos 1-0.

On Wednesday, Anorthosis have the chance to join AEK at the top of the standings on 39 points when they play at Ethnikos Achnas (6pm).
