Grenade found

POLICE in Paphos are investigating an attempted destruction of property after an unexploded hand grenade was found next to a residence in the village of Mouttalos.

After receiving a tipoff on Thursday morning about a grenade spotted in an open space, police arrived at the scene and cordoned off the site.

The grenade had been doused with petrol, apparently in a bid by the perpetrators to set it off after it did not explode the first time it was thrown near the residence.

Evidence collected from the scene has been sent for lab analysis.
