Art and religions

By Maria Gregoriou

If you are interested in religion in art then you will be thrilled to know that the Cornaro Institute is currently running a seminar series on the subject.

You don’t have to be an art student nor do you have to be very religious, an enthusiastic interest in history and art is really all you need to get carried away with what you could get up to.

The international seminars, entitled Religions in Art and Art in Religions, is run by professor of history and religions at the Universitas Pontificia Salesiana, Umberto Mondini.

So get ready for a number of workshops in November, an introduction to tribal religions in December with Mondini, while on the same day Dr Laura Tenti from the University of Milano will speak about the art of embroidering a Puthkuli among the Toda of Tamil Nadu, India. Also, as good things normally come in threes, there will also be a third seminar on the day by Dr MariosKamenou from the University of Cyprus on the divination in the ancient world.
