Remand for arson

A 19-year-old male was remanded in custody for three days in Paphos on Friday on suspicion of setting his grandfather’s car on fire.

The incident happened on Thursday at around 6.45pm in an open area on Ariadnis Street.

Authorities determined that the fire had been set deliberately. The car belonged to a 62-year-old Paphos resident.

Suspicion was raised against the 19-year-old who was detained by police and brought before court on Friday.

The suspect requested legal assistance and the court remanded him in custody for three days pending examination of his request.
