Fires in two Limassol villages

Fire services were on Monday combating two fires in Limassol at Anogyra village and Ayios Akindin.

At 2:16pm, the fire service received a call that an area in Anogyra village was in flames burning six hectares of dry shrub and wild vegetation.

Two helicopters and six fire trucks were at the scene trying to put the fire out.

Meanwhile at 2:31pm, the fire service received a call that a fire was raging at Ayios Akindinos village.

According to the fire service some five hectares of dry shrub and wild vegetation were burnt and there are five fire trucks from the fire service at the scene, one from the forestry department, two from the British bases, one from the game department.

There were also two planes from the forestry department and one helicopter from the bases.
