Man falls to his death from balcony

A 40-year-old Greek national fell to his death from the fifth floor of a Nicosia apartment building on Sunday afternoon.

At around 3:30 pm yesterday, police were alerted and went to the scene.

A witness reported to police that the man who lived on the fifth floor had apparently locked himself out and was trying to get back into his apartment by climbing on his balcony from the window of a neighbouring flat. During this attempt, he slipped and fell.

The results of an autopsy showed that the cause of death was a head injury due to the fall. On-site investigations confirm that the fall was an accident and police have excluded the possibility of foul play.
