Teen caught driving stolen car

Police in Limassol arrested an 18-year-old foreign national caught driving a stolen car on Friday evening.

The vehicle, reported stolen on August 24, was spotted on Navarinou Street at around 11.45pm by an officer who was off duty.

Patrol cars scrambled to the area but the driver of the car refused to stop when requested, and sped off in a bid to evade police.

He ended up crashing into a small roundabout where the car came to a halt. The driver tried to escape on foot but was eventually detained.

The 18-year-old permanent resident claimed that another teenager had given the car to him.

Police are seeking the second suspect.
