The classical sound of India

If you love Sitar music then you are in for a treat on Monday when Indian musician Reshma Shrivastava will be giving a concert of classical sitar music at Technoplis 20 at 8.30pm.

The world renowned performing artist was born into a family of professional musicians in Allahabad, India. Her uncle, Professor Satish Chandra, an artist from the Pt. Ravi Shankar’s tradition, was her first teacher.

Her love affair with the sitar started when she was six years old and at the age of eight she gave her first public performance and began broadcasting on the radio even earlier. These childhood recordings are still being played on the radio in India today.

Shrivastava went on to gain her Master’s degree in Sitar from Allahabad University, receive many prestigious awards and to give sitar performances around the globe, including, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, Slovenia, Israel and the United States.

The musician offers private sitar lessons in person and on Skype, so if you want to learn from the best, distance is no longer a problem.
