Paphos police probe claim pregnant woman not told she was expecting twins, as one stillborn  

Police in Paphos have received a complaint from the family of newborn twins – both boys – one of whom was stillborn when delivered at Paphos general hospital, saying doctors never told the mother she was expecting two babies.

The birth to the 22-year-old mother occurred around midnight on Friday at the hospital, according to the Cyprus News Agency on Saturday.

It said police were examining a possible case of medical negligence after the parents of the young mother complained to them that none of the family was aware that twins were on the way. Police visited the hospital on Saturday and obtained the mother’s medical records, CNA said.

A post mortem is expected to be carried out on Monday by state pathologist Sophocles Sophocles, the report said. The other baby and the mother were said to be in good health, according to the CNA.
