New ‘QuickPay’ service from BoC

Bank of Cyprus (BoC) on Friday launched a new service for the execution of payments and transfer of money via mobile phone.

“Using QuickPay, BoC customers can make transfers without using other security devices such as Digipass,” Harris Pouagare, dead of the lender’s retail banking and SME department, said.

Via QuickPay the customer can make payments up to €150 daily to other BoC customers, he said.

If the recipients are already registered with QuickPay, all the person paying needs to know is their mobile number.

If they are not registered, an account number is also needed to carry out the payment.

Instead of the client having to visit the bank, person-to-person payments can be made quickly, easily and without charge.

As Pouagare noted, the bank is just starting a new era with new forms of banking and more new services will follow.

BoC has already set up software that will enable it to offer new services as soon as possible, keeping pace with what clients want: easy, free, and fast service.

The announcement of the new service is a sign that the bank is gradually leaving behind the 2013 crisis – though the effects must still be deal with — and looking forward to the future.
