Cheers to tradition

They say that wine is the nectar of the Gods but no one said anything about us mortals not being able to drink a glass or two.

Drink a glass or few we will this weekend during the Third Wine Festival and Exhibition of Traditional Products at the Kamanterena Winery in Paphos.

The two-day event, organized by the Centre for Promotion of Traditional Products, isn’t all about what the winery has to offer, it will also be showcasing performances by various traditional dance groups, accompanied by live music.

You will also get to get to know and taste various traditional products from the area of Paphos, including Loukumi Geroskipou – that soft, chewy, sugar-powder covered cubical sweet that comes in many flavours – and, of course, get your pallet very wet with different wines.

Don’t worry about drinking on an empty stomach as there will be a rich buffet available for €7.

The winery is located in the village of Kato Stroumbi in the Paphos region. It was founded in 1997 and is run by the wine cooperation, SODAP, which has won several awards and prizes for its wines.

The Kamanterena winery is one of the most complete and modern wineries in the world, equipped with machinery of the latest technology.

Some of the winery’s wine grapes are Riesling, Xynisteri, Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon.
