Tourist dies in quad bike accident

A 25-YEAR-OLD tourist from Australia died on Wednesday evening in Ayia Napa after the quad bike she was driving collided with a bus.

A 27-year-old woman, also from Australia, who was a passenger on the quad bike was seriously injured and is being treated in hospital.

Police said that the accident occurred at around 6.30pm when the quad bike, which was making a left turn, crashed into a moving bus coming in the opposite direction.

The collision was fatal for the 25-year-old, police said, while her passenger suffered injuries to various parts of her body.

They were both transferred to Famagusta general hospital where the 25-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival. No one in the bus was injured.

The accident is being investigated by the Paralimni police station.
