Limassol fire contained

The large fire that broke out at around 1.30pm in Ayios Amvrosios in Limassol has been contained and no residences are in danger, the fire service’s spokesman Nicos Longinos said on Wednesday.

“The fire was out of control but now is ebbing. There are several outbreak points and places that are hard to reach so we have also enlisted the help of two helicopters and the airplane of the forestry department,” he said.

He added that the area is bushy with cliffs that are not easy to approach but that they are using the aircrafts to put out fire in those places.

The Cyprus News Agency reported that including the nine trucks of the fire service, there are also trucks of the forestry department, and the game and fauna fund.
