Workshop fire in Klirou under control

A fire that broke out in a machine shop Klirou village in the Nicosia district on Friday afternoon was brought under control around 5pm, the fire service said.

It said the call was received around 3.40pm and two fire trucks responded from Lakatamia station and Palaichori.

It took 11 fireman to extinguish the blaze using water and foam.

“The primary risk of expansion of the fire into adjacent buildings was quickly under control. The workshop in the centre of the village suffered extensive damage and two vehicles were destroyed,” the fire service said.

Investigations will determine the cause of the fire, it added.
