Anastasiades discusses Cyprus with Tusk

President Nicos Anastasiades held a meeting Wednesday with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk in Brussels.

Anastasiades briefed Tusk on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus issue, in view of the substantive UN-led negotiations that are currently underway.

He reiterated his political will for the solution as soon as possible and expressed hope that through a sincere dialogue and the help of all parties involved the necessary circumstances would be created for a positive outcome.

According to a written statement from Government Spokesman Nicos Christodoulides, during the meeting there was a common understanding of the added value that deeper EU involvement would have.

Anastasiades and Tusk also discussed the economy in light of the recent positive developments and the prospects for full recovery.

He informed Tusk on the results of his recent visit to Israel and his contacts with the President of Egypt and the President of the Palestinian Authority.

They also discussed also in length the issue of Greece and agreed that there was an urgent need to find a solution to the problem, that would allow Greece to remain in the eurozone, something that would be to the benefit of both Europe and the Greek people. (CNA)
