Amendment to law on wills

The House legal affairs committee has decided that all permanent residents of Cyprus will be treated equally regardless of their nationality when it comes to executing wills.

Under previous legislation, in some cases – though not all – spouses could have been excluded from a will if they were not a Cypriot.

The matter will go to parliament in two weeks. AKEL MP Aristos Damianou said the amendment will also provide that in the case where a will has spelling mistakes or has pages missing a signature, they will no longer be automatically deemed invalid.
