TRI for charity

By Maria Gregoriou

You know the song that goes “you don’t have to be rich to be my girl?” Well, next Sunday we will be singing “you don’t have to be fit to take part in a triathlon,” as we can take part in a short distance triathlon to help raise money for the One Dream, One Wish charity.

But the event is not only geared towards helping support children and their families fight cancer and related diseases, it is also being organised to help participants try their hand, foot and all our body for that matter, at exercising.

As the triathlon will include swimming, cycling and running on closed roads for a short distance, it is a perfect opportunity for those who sit at a desk all day to take the initiative, for those who want try all three and decide which one works best for them, and for others who may be very sporty and would like to take part for the fun of the sporting game.

So if you are 12 or older, take on the challenge and swim 100 metres in the pool, cycle 4km along Navarino Street and then run or walk 2km along the Linear Park. You can participate in all three disciplines as an individual or team up.
