Anastasiades sends letter of condolence to US vice president on death of his son

President Nicos Anastasiades on Tuesday sent a letter of condolence to US Vice President Joe Biden on the death of his son.

Beau Biden, 46, who served eight years as attorney general of Delaware, died on Saturday after a recurrence of brain cancer.

In his letter, Anastasiades said that on behalf of himself and the people of Cyprus he was offering his condolences. “I grieve with you at this tragic loss,” the letter said. “Please accept my most sincere and heartfelt condolences.”

Joe Biden visited Cyprus last year as part of US efforts to facilitate the resumption of Cyprus talks. He also visited Anastasiades in New York last December when the President underwent heart surgery.
