Roundabout crash victims moved to Limassol hospital

THE 54-year-old man who was injured in a car accident near Larnaca on Friday was rushed to the intensive care unit of the Limassol General Hospital on Saturday, according to the Cyprus News Agency.

The man sustained multiple injuries, including a rib fracture and a lung injury and was initially treated at Larnaca hospital.

His 43-year-old wife, who was also injured in the accident, has also been moved to Limassol hospital, and has a pelvic fracture and other injuries.

The couple had crashed into a refrigerator truck while driving to Larnaca. The truck’s 54-year-old driver was also treated but later released.

The accident took place at around 3pm on Friday near the Kalo Chorio roundabout. The couple were driving in a small van and entered the roundabout heading towards Larnaca when the y crashed with the refrigerator truck that was heading towards Aradippou. The two vehicles spun out of control and eventually crashed into the concrete barrier surrounding the roundabout.

Both drivers were subjected to an alcohol test that came back negative.

Police had to close off the roundabout for an hour.
