APOEL secure third consecutive championship

APOEL were crowned champions for the 24th time in their history after defeating Ermis Aradippou on the last day of the season by four goals to two.

The Nicosia team needed just one point to clinch their third consecutive title and got off to a perfect start when the Argenitian de Vincenti opened the score with a low drive in the ninth minute. Captain Charalambides doubled the score soon after.

Ermis fought back and Taralides pulled one back but APOEL restored their two goal cushion through their top scorer Djebbour five minutes later.

In the thirty ninth minute Djebbour scored his second of the day after good work by Morais to give APOEL an unassailable 4-1 half-time lead.

In the second half APOEL were content to sit back on their lead giving space to Ermis to venture forward. They were rewarded with a second goal midway into the second half with their captain Papathanasiou.

AEK finished the season in second place after defeating Anortohsis by two goals to nil while Apollon came back from behind to defeat Omonia by two goals to one in Limassol to secure third place.
