Body found in burnt car

British bases authorities on Sunday where investigating the discovery of a body found in a burning car in Xylophagou on Saturday evening.

The car fire was reported at around 9.30pm on a road leading to the beach. The car was inside British bases territory.

It was put out by the fire service who found a charred body slumped towards the passenger seat.

It was determined that the vehicle was registered to a 69-year-old woman from Frenaros, in the Famagusta district. Police suspect the body belongs to her son, 39, who has gone missing.

Reports said the victim appeared to be shot before the car was torched. It is believed that the crime is connected with the organized crime.
