Turaev Jamshid, aka Alex, a 36-year-old athlete, became the holder of the most rear pull-ups world record, in Limassol on Saturday, he said.

Official recognition is still pending as the standard procedure involving research and verification checks by Guinness World Records has not been completed yet.

Jamshid, who lives and works with his family in Limassol for the past 13 years, was able to complete in less than one minute, 26 rear pull-ups at the CHS Fitness Club, compared to an initial target of 20. It is the first time that this type of record has been set.

“I still have two more ideas for which there is no world record yet,” Jamshid, who was born in Uzbekistan, said in an interview immediately after setting the new record.

“In a couple of months I will inform Guinness World Records and I hope my application will be approved so that I will get started,” he said.

When asked to reveal more details about his plans he said that “it is still a secret and I cannot tell more”.

Jamshid who also holds a law degree works as a private security guard.
