An ‘audience’ with footballer John Robertson

SCOTTISH football fans will be given the chance to meet a football legend at an event to be held in Paphos later this month.

John Robertson (Robbo), best known for his time with Heart of Midlothian, will take time out of his week long holiday to Cyprus in May to meet fans and take part in a question and answer session.

Organised by Neil Hart, the owner of the Britannia Bar in Kato Paphos where the event will take place, the evening will include a pie and mash dinner followed by an after-dinner talk by Robertson and then questions from the audience.

Hart said: “I support Heart of Midlothian and have a number of contacts at the club. One of them has a villa in Cyprus where Robbo will stay for a week. I’ve never met him, although I used to watch him play, and am really looking forward to the experience.”

Tickets for the event are priced at €12 and limited places are available.

Robertson, 50, was a player and coach, and his although his career included time at Newcastle United, Dundee and Livingston, he is best known for his time at Heart of Midlothian, where he remains the club’s all-time top goal scorer.

Since then, he has managed Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Heart of Midlothian, Derry City and East Fife, among others.

The footballer spent the vast majority of his playing career at Hearts and was also a Scottish international, playing on 16 occasions for Scotland. He first played against Romania in 1990, scoring in a 2–1 win. He scored three goals during his international career.

Hart said: “People are welcome to wear their football tops if they wish and Robbo will be talking not only about Scottish football, but also football in general. It promises to be a good night.”
