CYTA provides 20,000 helmets for children

CYTA donated 20,000 protective helmets for children to the traffic police on Wednesday in a bid to teach them that the precaution can save lives.

The event took place at the traffic education park for children in Nicosia at the presence of primary school children.

Young people could be the best teachers or traffic wardens to their parents, friends and relatives, traffic chief Yiannakis Charalambous said, especially if they were taught the right way early on.

“We will always be supportive of efforts that cultivate road safety awareness among youths so that, all together we can break the negative performance of Cyprus in road accidents,” CYTA said in a statement.

The country adopted the European incentive to reduce road deaths and injuries by 50 per cent until 2020, according to Charalambous.
