Great balancing act

By Maria Gregoriou

Late Friday afternoon Eleftheria square in Nicosia will offer a spectacular sight to excite you into taking the rest of the weekend by the horns.

If you are looking for the same exciting action on Saturday, then Limassol will be offering exactly the same ball park fun, only this time with an ocean view.

Two French acrobatic groups will be performing in the street during the Circus Arts Fest, showing off their circus art, along with tricks and moves of the trade.

La Main s’affaire, a pair of hand-to-hand acrobats, will perform an acrobatic show entitled All Right.

The pair of artists achieve technical harmony and breathtaking acrobatic lifts with a sense of humour, a touch of irony and solid acrobatic skills. The duo aims at showing that there are numerous ways to watch the flow of information that surrounds us.

The Longshow Company (which is made up of just one man, Nicolas Longuechaud), the second acrobat act on the list, will perform visual illusions under the performance title of Opticirque.

In this solo creation, through his own dreams and chimeras, Longuechaud draws and shares with the audience the singular story of one circus, his circus.

This show will open up a world of wonder around perception as it is created around collective memory and inspired by almost true stories. Get ready to enter a world which balances between circus, cabaret and a theatre atmosphere.

The festive show is organised by ARTos Foundation and the French Institute in Cyprus in collaboration with the Municipality of Nicosia. It is taking place within the framework of the seventh X-Dream Festival. Both acts will last around an hour… that’s an hour of acrobatic fun and skill.
