Limassol bus strike

WORKERS at Limassol’s bus company (EMEL) will stage a 24-hour strike on Wednesday because they have not been given their back-pay since October 2013.

Unions said they sent two letters to the company late last year and earlier this year outlining all outstanding debts.

“The decision gives the necessary amount of time to all those directly involved to discuss and solve the problem, which unfortunately unfolds for the umpteenth time.”

They do not rule out further measures.

A few weeks ago, staff protested over a decision to cut their wages by 15 per cent as the company could not pay their March wages due to government subsidy cuts.
