President Anastasiades to visit Athens on the 17th of April

President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades will hold a meeting in Athens on the 17th of April with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

According to sources from the Greek Prime Ministry, the two men held a telephone conversation yesterday during which they discussed about current developments.

It was also announced in Athens that the Cypriot President will visit the Greek capital on the 17th of April to brief the Greek Prime Minister on the outcome of the talks he will have with UNSG`s Special Advisor for Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide, who is expected to return to Cyprus tomorrow, Monday.

A UN announcement said that Eide`s mission will be “to follow up on the encouraging indications received during his last trip to the island regarding a possible resumption of the negotiations”.

Eide will meet bilaterally with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders (Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu) “to continue discussions on prospects for the resumption of talks in the spring”.
