Larnaca bus strike to continue

LARNACA bus drivers, who staged a strike on Monday, were set to continue their action on Tuesday after negotiations failed to find common ground on their demands.
Drivers had asked the company, Zenon, to at least satisfy three of their most pressing demands – permanency, routes and work cards, and contributions to the social insurance and provident funds – in return for an end to the strike.
The company made some staff permanent and issued cheques for the various funds, but had asked for three days to respond to the other demand.
Workers said they could not give a three-day extension and decided to continue their strike.
