Technopolis Cultural Centre in Paphos is quickly becoming the go to place for anything from workshops, to documentary screenings, to theatrical performances, to musical evenings.
If you haven’t seen the documentary A Haircut Story by Danae Stylianou, then today the centre will be screening it at 8.30pm.
The documentary highlights the events that took place on our island in March 2013, and the haircut of deposits. Although there is some background information and information about how the economy got into the state in which it finds itself in today, it mainly concentrates on seven different stories from people who were affected by the crisis.
Now, moving onto more pleasant things, on Friday the cultural centre and the Fikardos winery offers an evening of drinking wine, eating cheese and partying.
There will be lots of wine tasting, music and a really good atmosphere, so if you like a little bit of wine or if you still aren’t sure which wine suits you the most, this party is where it is at for you.
If you are a parent and you would like some guidance on how to become the parent you always dreamt of (or at least thought you would be when the time came), then the workshop series Conscious Parenting may catch your attention.
The workshop, which will start running from March 7 until April 18, will help you identify your existing strengths and skills, while also helping you consider the areas on which you need to develop.
During the workshops you will learn techniques to enhance your parenting skills. But it is not all about you as a parent, your children also have a lot to do with it, so you will also get to understand why your children behave the way they do. If you know why a certain pattern of behaviour occurs, then you are more likely to be able to deal with it appropriately.
A number of methods you can use to resolve any conflicts you may have with your children will be introduced so you can select and try out the one that will work for you. Once you have found the method that works, then you will have constant open communication lines.
There is so much more to be taught and learn about parenting, and the lessons never really end, even when the kids are all grown-up, but this is a great starting place to nurture the parent you want to be.
