Four years jail for social media pervert

A Greek Cypriot man aged 43 was sentenced to four years in prison by the Nicosia court on Monday after being found guilty of indecent assault, forgery related to setting up fake social media accounts, and possession of child porn.

The case dates back to 2014 when the man was arrested for soliciting and acquiring child pornography material through an online social networking service where he had attempted to lure unsuspecting female minors into performing lewd acts on camera.

He was arrested after a complaint lodged by an underage girl who he had tried to blackmail by threatening to expose what she had done on camera.

After the complaint was lodged, the police’s cyber-crime unit was able to identify the online and physical address of the perpetrator and secured a search warrant. The seized computers with photos and videos classed as child porn. He admitted to the crime.
