TWO men, aged 41 and 49, were arrested on Tuesday in Paphos in connection with a property scam and were charged with conspiracy to commit crime and theft through representation.

For the same case, a 50-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were remanded in custody for three days on January 8 and were charged in writing after their release.

According to police reports, the 50-year-old undertook the responsibility to sell a piece of land in Konia in Paphos owned by four brothers, for a total sum of €170,000.

The same property, however, was already sold by the 34-year-old woman to a 75-year-old man for €65,000 and the title deeds were transferred to his name.

After the sale was concluded, the four brothers reported to the police that they received none of the money paid for the land.

Police believe that the couple conspired to sell the land and keep the money. When questioned, the 34-year-old woman said she handed the €65,000 to the 50-year-old while he claimed that she only gave him a part of the amount, police said.

The two people arrested on Tuesday, have allegedly forged a proxy and sold the land owned by the four brothers to the same 75-year-old.
