Jailed for firing shotgun at ex’s home

A 33-year-old man was jailed for 14 months on Wednesday for firing shots last October at the home of a woman he was involved with.

The man was arrested after the 59-year-old woman told police the shots had been fired shortly after the defendant threatened her during a phone call in the evening of Saturday, October 4.

The woman said she heard two shots and glass shattering as soon as she put the phone down.

Police checked the footage from the home’s security cameras and saw a small two-door car parked in front of the house. Two shots were fired from the driver’s side.

The woman said the defendant used the same type of car and that he had threatened her in the past.

Police records showed a series of complaints about threatening phone calls and damage to her cars. The defendant also attempted to commit suicide, the court heard.

After his arrest, the man admitted to firing the shots using a hunting gun.
