Cyprus saw government debt fall in the third quarter of the year by 956 million euros to 18.2 billion euros after it redeemed part of the bond issued to recapitalise Cyprus Popular Bank in 2012, the finance ministry said.

“In July the republic redeemed part of the bank recapitalization bond for €950 million,” the ministry’s public debt management office said in a statement on its website today.
