Traffic campaign bags drunk drivers

A campaign to prevent traffic accidents was carried out on Friday night all over Cyprus, resulting in 46 alcohol-related write-ups and 128 traffic-related tickets, a police report said on Saturday.
Specifically, in Nicosia 113 vehicles were checked, producing 23 traffic offences, while 107 drivers were alcohol-tested and 11 were found to be over the legal limit.
In Limassol, 140 alcohol-level tests were performed, with 22 drivers written up for driving while intoxicated.
Famagusta traffic police found a whopping 58 traffic-related offences during the night, whereas out of 140 alcohol-level tests only six drivers were caught driving over the legal limit.
Seven people were issued a ticket in Larnaca for driving under the influence, out of 111 drivers checked.
General traffic-related offences produced 47 write-ups in the Paphos district, the report said.
