The 11th annual Cyprus Entrepreneurship Competition (CyEC) is inviting young scientist to enter by submitting their business plans until the end of this week.

The CyEC, that closes on September 20, “aims to nurture entrepreneurial culture among young scientist in Cyprus and challenge them to transform their ideas into real business opportunities and to leading companies of tomorrow.”

This year the competition will take place on October 4and 5, where participating teams will receive intensive training and guidance from recognised individual traders operating in start-up companies.

The CyEC website www.cyec.org.cy states that participants are required to form teams of complementary skills for the development of their business plans for a high-tech start-up company, but they do not have to have experience in founding start-up companies.

The winners will be selected by a jury of experienced entrepreneurs, academics and investors. The winners will receive €8,000, for second place the award is €4,000, and €2,000 for third place.

More than 200 teams have participated since the start of the competition in 2003, while 25 start-up companies have already begun work.
