Reform of public service handed to presidential aide

The reform of the public service is to fall under the competency of the Undersecretary to the President Constantinos Petrides, the cabinet decided on Wednesday.

He has not been appointed as commissioner for public service reform however.

The post of commissioner for public service reform has been vacant since its last incumbent resigned three months ago and reports suggest the government has had a hard time finding someone to replace her.

The cabinet said Petrides would carry out the reform programme in collaboration with the relevant government departments.
