Two pensioners critical after separate road accidents

A 76-year-old man is in critical condition at the Famagusta General Hospital, after his scooter was hit by an unidentified car at the Ayios Panteleimonas roundabout in Paralamni on Saturday.

According to police, the 76-year-old was driving his scooter along the roundabout at 8.45am on Saturday, when a car moving at high speed hit him and subsequently fled the scene.

The pensioner was rushed to Famagusta hospital. Police are  requesting anyone who has more information on the accident to notify authorities.

In another accident on Saturday a 79-year-old man ended up in critical condition at the same hospital after crashing into a concrete barrier near Paralimni.

According to the police report, the 79-year old was driving along the Protaras-Cavo Greco road when at around 7.45am he lost control of his car, swerved to the left and crashed into the barrier at the side of the road.
