Forest fire warning ahead of long weekend

The forestry department warned the public on Tuesday, ahead of the August holiday weekend, to be careful of the dangers of starting a fire, especially in forest areas.

The authorities call on holidaymakers and hunters not to light any fires and not to use cutting, soldering or welding tools in open spaces or to burn dry grass.
Smokers should also be careful and try not to smoke in or around forests.

If a blaze or smoke is spotted, the public is asked to immediately call 1407 or 112 and apply safety precautions to put out or reduce the fire.
